Project development document

Project impacts and benefits:

  • This project reduces South Africa’s dependence on fossil fuels for transport, providing clean mobility to a nation in need of transport.
  • Provides transportation resilience and Net Zero by 2050 trajectory, by covering BMW EVs for citizens or fleets across the nation, reducing citizens Scope 1 and 2 emissions from gCO2 per km travelled.
  • Reduces air pollution by replacing coal and other fossil fuel fired passenger cars with clean, renewable power SDG7.
  • Raises awareness and provides capacity for climate change mitigation, adaptation and impact reduction. By saving 100% on the Carbon purchase tax using battery powered cars, renewable awareness extends to the home for deep decarbonisation.
  • Prosumers seeking portfolio reduction of up to 112 tCO2e annually.
  • Sustainable impact methodology includes electric and hybrid vehicles per UNFCCC CDM 13th edition AMS-III.C methodology.
  • Project of Activities includes multiple BMW EVs on The International Council on Clean Transportation average of 150gCO2/km and average of 15 000 km driven annually per car. Monitoring directly supporting green economic activity across inner city and suburbs.
  • Year of offset credit or Vintage: 2023
  • To buy on the Metaverse, or with Crypto, please register on our community and we will share which specific token to purchase for this project.
  • Promotes Transport Efficiency as a sector committed to minimising greenhouse gas emission since road transport accounts for 70% of transport emissions through tailpipes.
  • Project sREC priced per Ton of CO2.

Located across 50 internal combustion engines to Electric Vehicle (EV) conversions during ownership stage as part of a portfolio of citizens with BMW. Rollout is scalable to a few thousand vehicles annually up to 15% of total brand vehicle sales. The project produces carbon reduction across mileage driven without air emissions where there is a purchase or exchange of an old fossil fuel car, for sustainable infrastructure contributing to local Net Zero.

The project is the BMW company’s first implementation since the Climate Change bill of 2022. There are plans to increase the renewable energy generating capacity of the portfolio for fully solar charging after ensuring enough EV charge points for electric activities in future. The carbon offset will alleviate the current air pollution constraints and vehicle CO2 taxes for purchasers from BMW Montana branch. The project is 2015 Paris Agreement and UN SDG aligned.
