Located in the Ekhurhuleni District of Gauteng, South Africa, the Ekhurhuleni  Solar Farm project consists of 5 photovoltaic solar projects in the RSA region with a total installed capacity of 40 MW. The project produces 59 GWh of renewable energy per year to the South African national grid – enough to power over 7,000 local homes!

The project is Ekhurhuleni’s first implementation by the South African local municipality to form partnerships with independent power producers in order to increase the generating capacity of the country and alleviate the current power constraints on the national grid. The project has currently reached the power purchase agreement stage and is scheduled to commence commercial operation in Q3 2023, but tender process has been delayed.
